Leather Cockatrice (Monster) Bookmark

 

This stunning bookmark features a historical illustration of the classical beast known as the cockatrice. Traditionally stories of the cockatrice say that it had the ability to kill people by looking at them. You can find examples in art of the cockatrice as early as the late 14th century. The cockatrice bookmark itself is crafted from hand selected leather and the historical illustration (over 100 years old) has been remastered so it works well engraved into the leather with a laser. The engraving means that it won’t peel off or crack like some printing can produce.

Each bookmark is made in house from hand selected veggie tanned cow leather. The back is unfinished leather with the grain from the leather visible. See the photos above to see what that looks like. 


This is a historical bookmark, meaning the illustration is adapted from a book that is over 100 years old. By adapting old and largely forgotten art it gives the work new life to be appreciated once more for years to come.
