This leather bookmark is engraved with the adapted antique illustration of the winged lion of Saint Mark. This lion is also the symbol of the city of Venice and is found in the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria. Since the winged lion first appeared it grew in popularity as a symbol and is found on many coats of arms and flags across the globe. 

The illustration used here is adapted from an antique illustration so it could be engraved on leather for years of reading use. The back of the bookmark is unfinished.
